In the year 2011 AD, the two divisions were changed to (Sharia and Fundamentals of Religion), and the number of Sharia students reached 77 students, and students of Fundamentals of Religion reached 58 students. In 2018 AD, the two divisions were canceled, so the department became under the name of Islamic Studies.

The Classroom Teacher Department is committed to meeting quality standards in:

The department seeks to achieve the following goals:
1- Preparing and graduating specialized teachers and educators who are distinguished by high abilities in teaching and learning through good and distinguished qualification according to scientific research methodology. They bear the responsibility of preparing and raising future generations in the present and future, and meet the requirements of the labor market.

3- Apply, develop and achieve quality performance and outputs
4- Optimal use of modern geographical and teaching techniques in education and scientific research
5- Attracting scientific competencies from faculty members, researchers and teaching assistants

9- The department works to develop scientific laboratories for modern scientific techniques in geographic information systems programs, remote sensing, digital maps, and statistical analysis according to the development plan in the department’s study plan courses.
10- Opening channels of scientific communication with local and regional geography departments to exchange applied experiences and to exchange and develop knowledge in the branches of geography.

The department will be committed to meeting quality standards in graduating a capable academic teacher and researcher. An employee who introduced the latest approaches to developing scientific research without neglecting his role in community service.
1- Connecting the university and its students to our authentic heritage, and trying to create a reasonable balance between our cultural heritage and our nation’s current issues.
2- Providing a high-level, distinguished, and modern level of curricula, academic courses, programs, and services in various sciences related to the field of teaching history and historical studies.
3- Providing public education institutions and other institutions with specialized elements in the field of history and education.
4- Developing general cultural awareness of the importance of historical studies in all its various forms and fields among students of the department and college and other segments of society in the city of Misrata.
5- Linking the general goal of the colleges and departments of the University of Misrata, given that all the sciences that these colleges provide to their students have a great connection to historical studies, especially with regard to the origin and development of those sciences.
6- Providing a good source for providing scientifically and educationally qualified personnel necessary to teach history courses in the university’s various colleges.
7- Developing free thinking skills based on studying and analyzing historical facts and rearranging them.
8- Developing the ability to criticize ideas, opinions, and historical narratives with the aim of building the student’s independent personality capable of analyzing, understanding and benefiting from historical events in understanding the lived reality, and trying to orient the future.
9-Learning about human experiences across different eras to benefit from them in building a society that is harmonious with itself, in which the spirit of love and tolerance prevails.
10- Scientific communication with colleges and departments of history locally and regionally with the aim of exchanging experiences and enriching social knowledge related to history and historical studies.
