About

The English Language Department is one of the first scientific departments in the College of Education
At the University of Misrata, it was founded in 1996 with national cadres with high teaching experience. Since its establishment, the department has sought to graduate distinguished batches of English language teachers and keep pace with modern requirements. The department also awards a Bachelor of Education degree in the field of teaching the English language.

Preparing scientific cadres with educational, educational and research competence prepared to serve the community in the field of the English language.

About

The Social Service Department at the College of Education was established in 2010 as one of the departments
Basic sciences at the college. The number of students registered in the department was (7 students only) in the first semester, and the department’s march has continued to grow since then, whether in the numbers of students and faculty members, or in developing research laboratories, study plans, and course contents, as the department contributes to Providing a social service program for the bachelor’s level and supporting educational programs that contribute to enriching both the education and teaching processes in terms of providing educational cadres, social specialists and following up on practical education programmes. The department, in parallel with other educational programs at the University of Misrata, contributed effectively to keeping pace with development, to meet the needs of the labor market. Community service and specialized scientific and educational research.

Preparing the social worker and social researcher capable of avoiding problems before they occur and addressing pre-existing problems through study, good diagnosis of society and mutual cooperation between its human units.

The Kindergarten Department was established during the academic year 2005/2006 AD, as one of the educational departments at the College of Education, Misrata University. The department aims to prepare high school graduates and their level for the teaching profession in kindergarten institutions, and contributes to raising the professional and scientific level of those working in the field of child education and upbringing, in addition to Conducting research and studies in the field of childhood to serve the community. The study system followed is the open semester system, and grants a bachelor’s degree in education, specializing in (kindergarten).

About

The Department of Mathematics is one of the main departments and a basic pillar of education and one of the first departments established in the college, where the Higher Institute for Teacher Education began in the academic year 1995-1996 AD. Two batches graduated from it with a two-year “higher diploma” system, then one batch graduated with a three-year system, and in the academic year 2000-2001 AD it was transformed into The study system in the department changed to the semester system, and the educational institution was named by its current name, the College of Education.

About

The Arabic Language Department is one of the nucleus departments in which the College of Education was founded
In Misrata in the academic year 1995-1996 AD, to prepare highly qualified teachers scientifically, research and pedagogically to teach the Arabic language subject in the intermediate education stage, and to contribute to teaching the Arabic language course to all departments at the college, and some other colleges at the university. The department was also assigned to participate in courses to raise the competency of some teachers, In performing its mission, the department relies on a solid educational program that keeps pace with the development of science and knowledge, meeting the needs of the labor market, community service, and specialized scientific and educational research. This program is implemented by an elite group of scientific cadres with high and advanced academic degrees and precise specializations in all aspects of the Arabic language, the number of whom has now reached Forty-three (43) faculty members and a teaching assistant were appointed.
(27) male and female students enrolled to study in this department at the beginning of its establishment. Then the interest in studying in the department continued, leading to the graduation of a number of classes. The first class graduated in 1998-1999, and in the fall semester of 2007, a branch of the department was opened in the Tawergha region, to enable students residing in the region. Tawergha was unable to enroll to study in the department, until 2011 AD, and the department opened the graduate studies program in 2018 AD, to obtain a higher degree (Master’s) in its linguistics and literature branches. The program received great demand from the students, so they enrolled to study in the two branches, and the first master’s thesis was discussed at the beginning of 2020 AD for the student. Atlal Al-Siddiq Baayou, Linguistics Division, under the supervision of A. Dr.. Omar Ali Al-Barouni, and it was passed with an excellent grade. Then the dissertations were discussed in the department until it reached twelve (12) dissertations so far, most of which were passed with an excellent grade.
The Arabic Language Department and its members carry out various activities in scientific and community service fields inside and outside the college, in an effort to make Arabic its prestigious place and advance our institution toward glory and mastery.

Preparing distinguished teachers qualified scientifically, research and pedagogically in the field of teaching the Arabic language to utilize their expertise at all stages of education.

Goals

1- Preparing an academic educational teacher with high linguistic competence, capable of raising a conscious and cultured generation through the scientific program of the Arabic Language Department supported by educational activities (workshops - educational courses - awareness lectures).
2- Preparing a scientific researcher capable of writing research projects in the fields of the Arabic language and its teaching methods to solve learning problems.
3- Employing modern technology to improve the educational and research process through technology training courses and the provision of technology equipment.
4- Active participation in solving community problems.
5- Holding training courses, workshops, seminars and conferences to raise the research and scientific level of human cadres within the department.
6- Exchanging experiences and communicating with corresponding departments from other colleges locally and regionally.

In the year 2011 AD, the two divisions were changed to (Sharia and Fundamentals of Religion), and the number of Sharia students reached 77 students, and students of Fundamentals of Religion reached 58 students. In 2018 AD, the two divisions were canceled, so the department became under the name of Islamic Studies.

About

The Department of Chemistry is one of the main departments in the college to raise the level of chemistry among students and advance the scientific level and advance it. The department began its journey at the Higher Institute for Teacher Education in the academic year 1995-1996 AD, and two batches graduated from it with a two-year “higher diploma” system, then one batch graduated with a three-year system. In the academic year 2000-2001 AD, the first class graduated from the Chemistry Department with a four-year “Bachelor’s” system, and in the academic year 2005-2006 AD the study system in the department changed to the semester system in effect until now.

The Department of Biology, one of the departments of the College of Education at the University of Misrata, was opened in

The Department of History is one of the departments of the School of Humanities in the Faculty of Education, Misurata University. The department was established in early October 2000 and includes many experienced and highly qualified teaching staff in the field of history and its various branches (ancient, Islamic, medieval, modern, and contemporary). The first batch of 31 students graduated in the summer of 2004. They were awarded a bachelor’s degree in history. The department offers many excellent academic activities to enhance the students' levels.

About

The Department of Art Education was established at the College of Education - Misurata University in the fall semester of the academic year 2006-2007 AD, based on the university’s vision in order to pay attention to the various sections of activity, and prepare qualified teachers artistically, scientifically, culturally, and pedagogically in the field of art education to work in multiple fields to serve Libya, the first of which is education. It began with a student group of (40) male and female students, then the numbers increased year after year due to the demand for the department, and the number of students reached more than 210 male and female students during the spring semester 2012 - 2013 AD, distributed among the classrooms, and the department’s study plan includes subjects Specialized, general and educational materials. The department's first batch graduated in the fall semester of the 2010-2011 academic year.

Word, melody, and rhythm combined are a set of aesthetic senses that work to arouse feelings and form effective images in the student’s imagination, which have an effective impact on mental, psychological, muscular, and social formation and a means of expression. About repressed feelings and emotions, and out of the belief of the University of Misrata in the great educational and scientific importance of this department among the departments, the Department of Music Education was opened at the College of Education in Misrata during the academic year 2006-2007 AD.
