About Us

The faculty of Education is considered the largest faculty of Misurata University concerning the number of students and lecturers. The faculty is a stronghold of science and knowledge that was founded to put an end to the perceived lack of teachers in the society and cover the ongoing demand for professionals in many different disciplines. The faculty has a special unique environment, being located in an area that retains the charm of tree-filled views, especially shade trees, and the fresh breeze of the Mediterranean Sea in the region of Jazeera, 8 kilometers to the west of the city center.\\r\\nThis educational institution was established by the decision no. 1258 of 1996 about establishing the Higher Institute of Teacher Training, and it was opened on Thursday 17/10/1996.\\r\\nStarting from 1/1/2005, the affiliation of the institute was shifted to the 7th October Misurata University under the name of the Faculty of Education of Misurata by the Ministerial Decision No. 2 of 2005. Later, it was called the faculty of Education as of the autumn semester of the academic year 2009-2010 according to the decision of the National Committee of Universities.\\r\\nIn Spring semester 2010, 7th October Misurata University was renamed to Misurata University and the affiliation of the faculty to the university remained under its new name \\\" The Faculty of Education - Misurata University\\\". \\r\\nToday, the faculty is comprised of 17 scientific and literary departments and it is seeking to provide and develop academic university education in accordance with the highest standards of local and international education. \\r\\nThe faculty hopes to become a center for motivational activities, services and programs in order to train and develop educational human resources as well as promoting the society in order to cope with the demands of the age and its continuous local and international changes. The faculty also strives to play a leadership role in teaching the various kinds of sciences and developing intellectual and behavioral skills. Additionally, communication and interaction with other cultures, in a way that ensures the preservation of our Arabic and Islamic identity, is considered of great importance to the faculty.

Through its vision, this institution is looking forward to achieve distinction and leadership by creating a generation of highly-competent teachers, exceptionally effective leading educators and pioneering scientific research, since the core message of the faculty mainly aims at expanding and enhancing the quality of pre-university teacher training to meet requirements and create teachers who believe in their noble mission and are capable of giving what is great and providing distinctiveness and creativity through their work.\\r\\nThe essence of this strategy is based on team-work and regarding the interest of the institution as a priority that supersedes personal interests, aiming at achieving the goals set out to make an institution capable of becoming competitive at all levels to achieve excellence and distinctiveness.\\r\\nThe faculty uses continuous evaluation results with their various kinds (before, during, after) in an earnest effort to validate plans thoroughly and determine whether or not they are implementable, and highlight vulnerabilities and strategies of sustainability and development to insure to keep up with the continuous development of the world. \\r\\nAt last, we hope that God will give us his blessings and that he may lead our steps on the straight path towards success and prosperity. Training teachers and researchers who are capable of becoming competitive and creative using modern up-to-date techniques in a way that ensures the delivery of high-quality services to the community.


Goals

Firstly: Educational and Instructional Goals:\\r\\n1. Prepare highly-competent teachers and educationalists to serve the interest of the educational process according to global standards.\\r\\n2. Curricula development in the faculty to keep up with the rapid developments in the international arena concerning the field of teacher preparing and training.\\r\\n3. Establishment and implementation of a general corrective educational system to develop all the administrative services and the academic and educational programs, as well as the activities of students. \\r\\n4. Seeking to provide postgraduate programs in all the departments of the faculty and highlighting them to achieve excellence and distinctiveness.\\r\\nSecondly: Scientific Research:\\r\\n1. Encouraging and directing researchers of the teaching staff and others to join postgraduate programs, and conduct research studies related to problems of the community locally and regionally, as well as researches concerned with the development of the educational process.\\r\\n2. Training of well-qualified teaching cadres of graduates and enriching their knowledge with the skills of scientific research and teaching competency.\\r\\n3. Motivating researchers of the teaching staff who are holding the master`s and the Ph.D. degrees to conduct a unique distinctive kind of individual and participatory research studies aiming at using them to participate in scientific conferences locally, regionally and internationally. \\r\\nThirdly: Community Service and Environmental Development:\\r\\n1. Playing an effective leadership role, in particular on the level of Misurata in solving problems related to the educational specializations in the scientific departments of the faculty and hopefully, this role will be played on the level of the country as a whole.\\r\\n2. open and support the channels of scientific and service communication with authorities and educational, scientific, sport, local, regional and international institutions with a view to sharing experiences, promoting development and innovation and take the initiative of participating in participatory scientific research and applied programs to serve the community and help in developing the environment.\\r\\n3. Engage in preparation of educational programs and trainings for graduates and beneficiaries in order to make a remarkable enhancement of their skills, abilities and personal experiences, thereby enabling them to engage successfully in the labour market and keep in pace with its future requirements.


Admission Rules

Admission Requirements \\r\\nStudents are accepted at the Faculty of Education according to the following conditions: \\r\\n- The applicant must have obtained a general or specialized secondary education certificate or its equivalent. \\r\\n- The applicant must be healthy and able to follow practical and theoretical lessons.\\r\\n- He/she must have obtained the prescribed percentage according to the established placement controls.\\r\\n- He/she are required to pay the prescribed fees. \\r\\n- The applicant must be of good conduct and behavior.\\r\\n- He/she should not have been dismissed from any faculty for academic or disciplinary reasons.\\r\\n- He/she must pass the personal interview test successfully.\\r\\n- He/she must successfully pass the specialized capacity tests in the departments of the faculty that require those tests.\\r\\n- Foreign students are required to reside in Libya for the duration of the study period, and to pay the study expenses and the prescribed fees in accordance with the university’s regulations and systems, without violating the rules of reciprocity stipulated in the agreements in this regard.
